Nina was very scared as she was going to write her scholarship exam. Her hands were shivering and sweat dripped from her forehead. Her mind seemed to be blank. She knew she had prepared just enough, although she was extremely scared. Her next-door friend, Lilly had also applied for the Scholarship. She did not seem to be too worried. She had her owlish thick glasses on & she always oiled her hair and tied it in a tight & a long hose. It looked like she had studied all night long.

Although, Nina knew she hadn’t. Lilly always looked nerdy, but those huge spectacles were put on because of too much exposure to electronics. Nina knew she had to win.

She had wasted 4 whole nights 36 boring days studying. All her hard work would bring colors today.

Nina’s exam was done. She was sure to get the scholarship. All the days in Nina’s life passed by as slow as they could. Finally, it was the day Nina was waiting for. She slammed open the door with no. 502 on it. She rushed to the mailbox to check on her post. It seemed to have reached. She jumped high up in the air and raced home. She peeked into the letter but shut it again. She was too nervous to open it. After 1000 minutes & Nina was all ready to open the letter.

Just as she opened it, she could feel the happiness. She started reading ‘Sorry, you have not been selected for the scholarship’. Nina was tense and she kept on reading the letter. She was in tears when she noticed the door no. on the top of the letter. It said ‘501’ instead of ‘502’. And, 501 was Lilly’s house. So, Nina rushed to go out. She quickly reached Lilly’s house and knocked on the door. Lilly came out with a big smile. Without any hesitation, Nina asked Lilly to see the address on her postcard. As soon as Lilly read it, she was shocked. Lilly handed over the post to Nina without uttering a word. Nina jumped up with joy. She was selected!!
