The Miraculous Umbrella

On a small one-way street in Germany, a meager girl sold Chinese toys over the street for money. Her dad worked as a laborer and she didn’t have a mom.

It was just another regular day of work, Colin (the girl) saw a huge grey umbrella lying on the dirty roads. Colin had no clue that this ugly umbrella would change her life for once and for all. As she gradually moved towards the umbrella, she saw a small white chip-like note. As she tried to hold the umbrella in her delicate hand, it was impossible to hold the umbrella, it just slipped. So instead, she tried reading that tiny note. She had never gone to school and hence didn’t know how to read.

She tried asking the person beside her. But, the person was unable to see the huge umbrella lying on the ground. Little she did know, this umbrella was magical, and was only seen to people with good hearts!

She was so very confused, so she tried to lift the giant umbrella, again, and surprisingly, this time it seemed to be up. She got all excited and ran home to show this magnificent umbrella to her dad.

‘Colin, you shouldn’t pick up stuff from the street.’ said dad. Colin understood her dad’s word and apologized to him.

The next day. It started raining cats and dogs. Colin had no other alternative than to take the miraculous umbrella with her.

The traffic control had just turned bright red, and Colin ran down the street to sell her bright and fragile toys, the umbrella raised high above her head, covering half her face! She whispered under her breath, ‘hope I have a great sale today.’ And bam! People were gushing through the huge crowd to buy toys from little Colin. This was the first-ever time Colin had been entirely sold out! Despite the rain, the public withstood. Colin was the utmost gleeful girl in town.

Once she was sold out, she opted to go back to her shabby little cottage along the garbage dump. Again, the umbrella strode right above her head. She mumbled, ‘I wish dad was home, and we wouldn’t have to live along the stinky garbage dump’ she sighed. When she was strolling to her house, the garbage dump had seemed to disappear, and dad was home for his work was done early. Colin rushed to give her beloved dad a big hug. Colin also informed him about the great sale of toys. Dad was very happy.

After a while, dad had to go out to buy food, so he held the gigantic umbrella in his rough hands, and strode away with it. Again, under the umbrella, he whispered to himself, ‘I hope Colin gets well educated.’ Just a moment ago, he passed a poster for free schooling. Without giving it a second thought, he enrolled Colin in. Colin would go to school from tomorrow. YAY! Dad understood this umbrella was magical, after some coincidences which were miracles.
From the next day onwards, their every wish came true, but they chose not to be greedy.
And that was an upbeat ending.
