My first author meet

My first author meet

One bright sunny morning my mom and I planned of going out. We reached the mall and were thinking of entering Zara. Then, we saw a little camp set up in Landmark. We hurried to get in there. And to my luck, it was a reading competition.

My mom asked, ”Mauli, why don’t you attend this competition?” with no hesitation I said yes, as reading is my passion. Soon, I registered my name and sat down with the other kids. After a long wait, it was finally my turn. I did a good job.  later on, the judges texted my mom that I was selected for the next round. I was never this excited. The next round of storytelling was very far away from the place I lived in. Out of a million participants, just the lucky ones were selected, and I was one of them.

When I first took a glance at the reading area I was amazingly surprised. It was my first time seeing an Author. I was very excited, amazed, surprised, happy and stunt. She looked so sweet and I loved her smile. I willed to talk to her, but I was a little shy. Finally, I took the guts to go talk to her. I was still scared. I got up from my space and slowly walked towards her. My heart beating extremely fast. I now reached right next to her desk and dared to say my name. She was starring at me. I was a little more nervous. She said, “I’m Asha Nehemiah nice to meet you. I asked her where she got her ideas for writing stories. She said she loves kids and so she prefers to write for kids and about kids.  She was sweet, kind and charming. I felt glad about meeting her.

I thought about her as a marvelous author. Were all authors like her? many children were not excited, unlike me.  I asked her about her ideas and loads of questions and she asked me many too. That is how the conversation went on. She asked me if I would get a chance to do something special what would it be? I said I would prefer doing cartwheels with in-line skates. She was surprised. Later on, I asked her about her new book – Mooly and the Bully on Wheels. She said it was about a notorious boy named Mooly. He and his friend try to become very popular. So they did a lot of stunts to beat others.

I requested her to take some images with me. And to my surprise, she said yes. I was the happiest girl in the milky way galaxy. I even bought one of her old books – the mystery of the secret hair oil formula. Here is something about it – Somebody is trying to steal Paati’s secret formula for the famous Wondergo supersonic hair tonic. But Paati is no ordinary grandmother, and she decides that no one can stop her from presenting her formula at the world herbologists conference. Along with her bossy granddaughter, lazy grandson, and pink-haired assistant. Paati has many serious and humorous adventures.

Did you notice my name is Mauli matching with her new book title’s boy Mooly?

What a memorable author experience.!!!
