Long Trunk of Mr. Elephant

Have you all ever wondered why the trunk of the elephant is so long? It was not always so. A long time ago in the forest of Amazon, an elephant, with a short truck was walking by a river. The elephant, Nick wanted to drink water, so he dipped his trunk in the river. But the elephant had not noticed the silent alligator sitting at the corner of the river, waiting for a delicious meal. As soon as the elephant dipped his trunk in, snap!  The alligator had the elephant’s trunk in his mouth. The elephant freaked out and tried to pull himself back, but the alligator’s teeth were all sharp and shiny. The king of the giraffes, tall and magnificent ‘Spotty’ was just passing by. He noticed his friend, the elephant is in trouble.

So, the spotty caught the elephant’s tail and tried to pull him back, but was unsuccessful. The fox, Toby, the bear, Fonzo, and the horse, Rader, were also passing by and decided to help. So all of them started pulling Nick, but what was happening? The elephant’s trunk was expanding! And as the trunk kept on expanding, alas! He was finally pulled out of the river by his friends. When he looked at his trunk, he did not like it at first, but he realized that it could be very helpful. Now he wouldn’t have to bend to drink water, he could pick up more wood for the humans.

And that’s how our elephants now have a long trunk!
